SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT

SCTPN Undergraduate Scholarships are dedicated to academic excellence and assisting young adults living with a hemoglobinopathy to continue their education.  The scholarship is awarded biannually to students accepted to an accredited two or four-year college or university.  Scholarship recipients can apply annually for continued assistance.

SCTPN will follow undergraduate recipients throughout their college experience, provide needed support and mentoring activities.

Program Requirements

Dear Scholarship Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our scholarship program.  To qualify and be the recipient of a monetary award all of the following criteria must be met:

  1. Complete scholarship application
  2. Complete all forms clearly and accurately
  3. Provide two letters of recommendation from non-family members
  4. Write a 350-500 word essay answering the questions provided
    (Spelling or grammatical errors are grounds for disqualification.
  5. Be diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease or Thalassemia

Your application will be automatically disqualified if all criteria are not met

Scholarship Re-Applying Requirements

While attending college you can reapply each year for a scholarship. Scholarships are only distributed once per year in October. To qualify and be the recipient of a monetary award all the following criteria must be met:

  • Complete application
  • Provide two letters of recommendation one from one of your professors and one from a non-family member
  • Must maintain a 2.5 grade point average
  • Provide an official transcript (if your official transcript is not available send the unofficial with the application and send the official later once it is available)
  • Please provide a response to the following - “Should workers have Unions, and do you think workers will benefit from a Union? Why or why not? And do Unions help or hurt society as a whole?”
